Kyla loves her games!

Kyla loves to play games so much, every night is now family game night! Kyla first started playing Candyland, Chutes and Ladders and Hi-Ho Cherry-O. She actually gets how to play them and they are all really good games for practicing her numbers and colors. She gets so excited to play all of them. In Candyland she is thrilled everytime that she gets one of the cards with the pictures to go to the candy cane, ice cream, lollypop... She does not care if it means she has to go backwards. She just stars screaming and jumping with excitement. In Chutes and Ladders it is the same thing with going up the ladders and down the chutes, she thinks it is so much fun to send her princess down the slide.

After getting a bit tired of always playing the same three games I went and bought her several new games, and she loves them all and now we just play games for even longer since if we play one game she has to play them all! She loves playing Hullabaloo, Sequence for kids, Uno Moo, Bingo and Don't Spill the Beans. She really picks up how to play them really quickly and they are all pretty educational. I loved playing games as a kid and still so it has been a lot of fun playing all of these games with Kyla. I now keep thinking of other games that I really liked as a kid and am going to need to by her more and more games.

Pretty Portraits

For a long time now Kyla has not liked having portraits done. Even when Daddy is the one taking the picture she will not sit and pose for a picture. We have not had any type of portrait done for over a year because of this. Last month Jon's work invited Kyla to have her pictures done while they were photographing home school kids and Jon really wanted me to take her and try to have her pictures professionally done by one of his friends at work who Kyla has met a couple of times.

Once I saw the background I immediately thought she should wear her tutu and fairy wings. Kyla absolutely loves dress up and this made her excited to go get pictures taken. She raided her dress up box and packed a backpack full of everything she wanted to wear, some of which I snuck out of the bag before leaving including a crown and wand.

Once we were getting close to the church where the pictures were being taken Kyla decided that she really did not want her pictures taken anymore. It was not a surprise to me since we had just left gymnastics and it was nearing nap time. But then I went to go pull onto the street that the church was on and it was called Madeline Street, I told Kyla the street was called Madeline like her cousin and she thought that was so funny. She was instantly in a good mood and we had a successful photo shoot! I was so happy with how well she did while having her pictures taken and how beautiful they turned out!

Pretty Valentines, Kyla, Ella and Ethan

We had a fun Valentines Day Weekend this year. We celebrated from Friday through Monday with different little things each day. Kyla and I made Red Velvet Cupcakes from scratch with really yummy cream cheese frosting and decorated them with conversation hearts and valentines sprinkles. We also made lots of different valentine art projects with paints, fingerpaints, stamps and stickers. Kyla made Jon and I valentines day cards that were very cute and she was very proud.

My mom, Kyla and I went to a valentines day lunch and Kyla got a very cute tinkerbelle balloon from someone who was making balloons for all of the kids at the restaurant. Jon and I celebrated valentines day a day early and went to a movie and out to dinner at a steak house. We saw the movie "Just Go With It", it was a really funny movie. The last time that I went to a movie was over 2 1/2 years ago when I was pregnant.

On Valentines Day we made heart shaped pizzas for dinner and ate lots of chocolates for dessert. Kyla loves holidays and had so much fun doing Valentines Activities all month.

Fun in the Snow!

Kyla playing on the swing

Kyla and Ella playing with the playhouse

So much fun in the snow

Ethan and Kyla having a great time swinging

Kyla has been so happy the weather is finally warm enough (15 degrees-20 degrees) that we can finally get out and play in the snow. She absolutely loves being outside and it has been so hard to get out with how cold it has been this winter. We have had many days this winter that are below zero or not much above and it is just too miserable to go out in that kind of weather. It is funny how nice 20 degrees can feel after these cold spells. Kyla, Ethan and Ella have been having a fun time playing in Ethan and Ella's backyard on their play structure and in the playhouse. I hope that we are done with the really cold weather so that Kyla can get out and go sledding and skiing since we have barely been able to do either this year. Kyla has some brand new princess skis that she has not even had a chance to try out yet!

A Mouse!!!

Yesterday morning as I was getting dressed I kept seeing something out of the corner of my eye, and then I finally saw it.....A Mouse!!!!! Jon was at work and Kyla was still sleeping so I did my best to not scream. This is the first time we have seen a mouse in our house so we did not have any mouse traps, so there was really nothing I could do. Later I told Kyla we had a mouse and that Daddy would catch it when he got home from work. She was so funny asking such silly silly questions all day about the mouse.

She asked me "Will Daddy catch it like this (putting her hands up in the air like she was catching a ball)?". Later on in the after dinner, I was telling her that Daddy put mouse traps by the stove, under the couch and in the closet. She then asked me "is the mouse eating dinner under the stove?", "is the mouse dancing in her jammy drawer and singing jingle bells" and "is the mouse playing dress up in my dress up trunk". I hope she does not think that this mouse is our pet, she even asked me what the mouse was named.

This morning we still had not caught the mouse and Kyla was aking me more questions about it. I told her that it was still hiding or that maybe it got outside. She replied "it went outside without us??? Maybe daddy shot it!" Jon has never shot anything in his life and does not even have a gun, but her friend Ethan's daddy likes to hunt and a few times she has heard Ethan talk about his daddy shooting something.

It is so funny to see how curious she is and hear the funny things that she is thinking about. She is very amused with the "mouse in our house", as she calls it, but I sure hope we catch it soon and that there is only one!
