Pyrah's Pioneer Peak Farm Fall Festival

Yesterday Kyla, Jon, My Mom and I all went to Palmer for the Fall Festival at Pyrah's Pioneer Peak Farm. We went last year and had a really good time and wanted to go again. The weather turned out to be very nice so it was a good day to spend all day outside. It was very busy at the fall festival and all of the lines were very long to park, get in, play games and to buy vegetables, but we were still able to fit everything in. We started out with the games since we were getting there right around nap time. Kyla was able to play all of the games and had fun with them and liked all of the prizes she won.

Kyla also got a pumpkin painted on her face and a sheep and pig tattoo on her hands. She went on a tractor ride in a wagon and we went into the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin. Either they had run out of orange pumpkins or they did not turn orange, because all of the pumpkins were yellow or green. Kyla had a hard time finding the perfect pumpkin, she was walking all around saying "I'm trying to find the one I want". She was trying to find the smallest pumpkin in the patch and I think she did!

After all of the games we went over to the gardens to pick some vegetables. We picked Broccoli, Onions, Kale, Lettuce, Potatoes and Peas. It was really fun picking vegetables there, the gardens are huge and the view is beautiful. Kyla did a really good job picking lots of vegetables. The line was really long to weight and pay for the vegetables so while my Mom and Jon were in line Kyla and I went over to pick peas. Kyla did a really good job finding peas and then would open the pea pod up and eat them while I was picking. We filled a grocery bag half full of peas and ate probably half of them on our way home. We ended up with 45 pounds of vegetables, 40 pounds of that was potatoes. It is a great farm and the vegetables are all only about a dollar per pound. It will be pretty close to our new house so I think next summer I will be going there to pick my vegetables instead of going to the farmers markets.

Kyla's First Day of Preschool

Kyla is a big Pre-Schooler now!!! Kyla started Preschool on September 6 at St. Mary's Creative Playschool. We have been going to all the playdates for the new and current students all summer so she has become familiar with her teacher and with some of the other kids. We already knew five of the other families that are attending St. Marys's and have become friends with a few others through the playdates throughout the summer.

The week before school started we had a playdate at the school's playground and we also got to go in the school and see the classrooms. Kyla found out that her teacher was going to be Mrs. Veronica and that Ethan was going to have Mrs. Stuart. They played in the classrooms and then when it was time to leave Kyla had a meltdown because she did not want to be in Mrs. Veronica's class. She said that she hated the kitchen and the mailbox in Mrs. Veronica's class and that she would not go to school unless she was in the other classroom. After a huge long fit about this I decided to ask if I could switch Kyla and Ethan's classes. We signed them up together and my only request was that they were seperated, so it did not really matter who had which teacher. So we got them switched and she was perfectly happy, until we went back a few days later for Registration Night and she decided she wanted Mrs. Veronica again, I think maybe it was just her way of getting of going to preschool. We told her we could not switch again and that maybe next year she would have Mrs. Veronica.

Her first day of school went better then I had expected. She picked out a pretty dress to wear and packed her school bag and headed to school. Once we got in the classroom, we got her things put away and started playing for a few minutes. I told her I was going to be leaving in a few minutes. A minute later she said "are you leaving", I said "yes" and she said "okay bye". I gave her a hug and kiss and told her bye and that I would see her soon. I walked over to talk to another mom for a minute and Kyla came back up to me to say bye again, so I left and she was just fine with that. Her preschool is only 2 hours two times a week, so it is a good to start to getting her use to being away from me.

On the second day of school I was signed up for one my parent helper days. Kyla got to choose the snack to bring for the class, she decided to bring gogurt and strawberries. She also got to be the line leader for the day. It was fun being there to see her in class, but she was also very clingy. She is really shy and does not talk to anyone in class yet and will only talk to the teacher when she is asked a question directly. But, she does at least play near the other kids and follows directions very well. Even though she is not interacting with the other kids, she is taking everything in because she can tell me all about what they did, the songs they sang, the books they read and everything else. She wants to make friends there, she just does not feel ready to talk to anyone, so I hope that she will soon open up a bit and be able to talk and play with the other kids.

Kyla's First Ballet and Tap Class

Kyla started her Ballet and Tap class that she has been looking forward to for so long. She has loved gymnastics but really wanted to dance this session. We bought her a really cute Ballet outfit and then went early to class to get her tap and ballet shoes, they are all very cute. Her class has about 15 little girls in it and it is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. They are all dressed in cute tutu's and are adorable. This was the first time Kyla has had a class where I am not in the room with her and she did pretty good. She is very shy and just watched the other kids when it was free play time, but as soon as their dance instructor had them involved in a structured activity she loved in and participated in everything. I got to watch the entire class on a tv from the waiting room and loved it.

Alaska State Fair Day 2

Kyla loves that Alaska State Fair so much that we needed to go back for a second day this year. She has been to the Alaska State Fair every year, the first time she went she was only about a month old. Last year she had so much fun at the fair and has talked about it since going last year. This year she had even more fun. She loves all of the rides and is not scared of any of them. Her and Daddy went on rides together that I would not even go on. Day 2 of going to the fair Kyla was a little tired. She still had a great time going on the rides, but did not feel up to walking around the fairgrounds. She even took a nap in Daddys arms for about an hour. It was still a great day at the fair and we had great weather too! Now I just can't go past the fairgrounds again until the fair is over or else we will have to go a third time!

Alaska State Fair Day 1

We had a great day at the Alaska State Fair with Ethan and Ella on Friday. We first went to the petting zoo to pet and feed the goats, cows and baby piglets. Kyla loved feeding the animals, but unfortunately they were not very hungry. After the petting zoo we walked around to see the other animals and all of the prize winning fruits, vegetables and flowers. Next we headed straight to the rides and rode all of the rides until we ran out of tickets. Kyla, Ethan and Ella had so much fun on the rides together. Ella was not able to go on too many of them since she was not tall enough. After the rides we played a few games, Kyla won a stuffed animal squirrel which she loves and a candy necklace. We then had dinner and ice cream and watched a band before heading home. We had a very fun time and the fair.
