Kyla and I went up to my parents cabin for the weekend to enjoy the snow before it all melts. We spent a lot of time out snowmachining and sledding. We had beautiful sunny weather perfect for playing out in the snow. We had a great time playing in the snow and most likely will not get back up to the cabin until the summer, so it was probably are last time on the snowmachine and sled for this winter. Kyla absolutely loves sledding and snowmachining and is going to miss winter!

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny and warm (40 degrees) day, so Jon, Kyla and I went to the zoo! We had a wonderful time walking around and enjoying the great spring weather. We picked a great day to go to the zoo because all of the animals were up walking around and playing enjoying the sunny weather. Kyla loves animals and loves to make the sounds that they each make so it made it a lot of fun to watch each animal and see Kyla's excitement. The Alaska Zoo, because of the cold, does not have all the typical animals that other zoos have, but Kyla liked seeing all of the moose, bears, wild cats, wolves, and birds. We decided to buy a seasons pass so we will be going back to the zoo a lot more with Kyla.

Kyla loves to play with her friends Ella and Ethan, who I have been babysitting the past several weeks. We go over to their house for a "playdate" three to four times a week. Kyla has so much fun going to play with them each day that we are with them. In the mornings as soon as she gets dressed she for the day she starts asking for her coat, hat and shoes so that we can get out the door to go play. As soon as we pull into their garage and I open the back door of the car she says "Ella" or "baby". She gets such a big smile on her face when we see them and she is so caring for them too.

It is fun to watch how she acts around different kids. When she is with Ella who is only three months old, she wants to take care of her. She always wants to sit with me and help me hold the bottle, when Ella cries she hurries and runs to her, she lets me know when she thinks Ella wants out of her bouncy sit or wants to play with another toy. She is very gentle with Ella and acts like Ella is her own baby. With Ethan Kyla is very outgoing, hyper and constantly on the go. Kyla and Ethan like to run around chasing each other, dance to music, play with balls and balloons and act crazy. Since Ethan is bigger, 2 years 4 months old, he is sometimes a little rough with and pushes or tackles her, but she takes it really well and is getting tougher.

I am so glad that Kyla enjoys playing with Ella and Ethan as much as she does. I feel very lucky to have a job that I enjoy and that It does not take away from time with Kyla.

This weekend Jon, Kyla and I went and stayed at the Prince Hotel at Alyeska Resort for a fun Ski Weekend! Kyla and Jon got to ski both Saturday and Sunday. We also went to Sushi for Dinner and to a nice breakfast in the hotel. We planned on going swimming a few times too, but Kyla only lasted about 30 seconds in the pool before she was ready to go. The water was pretty cold and I think she was pretty worn out from all the skiing she had done earlier. Kyla slept in bed with us and took up about 3/4 of the king size bed. I think she got a better nights sleep than she has got in a long time. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel and had a really fun time together.

Saturday was Kyla's first time skiing on her new real skis (besides doing a few practice runs down the driveway). She made huge improvements skiing with the extra support that the ski boots gave her and with skis that are waxed and go faster. She had a great time, she hardly fell and when she would still have a smile on her face and ask for more skiing when she did fall down.

On Sunday we met up with Kyla's friend Eli so that they could ski together. It was pretty snowy and the snow was deep and slow, so after doing a few runs they went up to a steeper magic carpet to ski a little faster. Kyla had fun skiing with her friend and beat him down the hill everytime! After skiing we went over to Jon's friends condo for lunch and to let the kids play. Kyla was wiped out after all the skiing and was sound asleep in her carseat before we even got out of the parking lot. We had a really fun weekend and am so happy that Kyla is loving skiing as much as she is!

Fun new Skis!!!




We had a fun weekend full of playing in the snow. Saturday we were already out playing at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday out by 9:30 a.m. Kyla can not get enough of going sledding! Saturday it was so snowy that we were soaking wet and still she did not want to go inside. Sunday was a much nicer day with the sun shining. On Sunday Jon got Kyla out on her new skis that he just got her. We originally just bought little skis that she can wear with her regular snow boots, but she has now progressed into real skis and ski boots!!! Jon was very excited to see her on her new skis with a huge smile on her face!
