Worms

Kyla loves to find worms and loves to hold them in her hand even more. She will take any earthworm we find and give it a new home in our garden. We were doing yard work the other day and she probably held 20 different earthworms, tiny ones to huge ones. She also found a caterpillar in our garden on the rhubarb and gave it a new home in a jar, unfortunately it died a couple days later and she was so upset, I think she began to think of it as her pet.

Garden and Stepping Stones

Kyla and I made stepping stones for the garden at my moms house a couple weeks ago using rhubarb leaves and a few more with stepping stone molds. Kyla was a big helper when it came time to paint them. She loves to paint and she did so good making sure that she got paint on every bit of each stepping stone. Kyla really likes helping out in the garden, she actually calls it her garden! She helps me water it, fertilize it, she even helped me and my mom smash all the bad worms that we found on my currant and gooseberry bushes that had been eating all the leaves. We like checking on it each day to see how it is growing. So far all that is ready are strawberries, each day we have had about 3-5 strawberries ready to pick and we have to pick them as soon as they are ripe otherwise the robins have been getting them before us.

Happy Fathers Day!

Kyla was so excited to wake her Daddy up on Fathers Day morning to give him all of his gifts. She got him up and gave him a bunch of tools and things for his new bar-b-que. After presents we had eggs benedict and grapefruit for a special fathers day breakfast. We went over to Finger Lake and rented a canoe and paddled around the lake for a couple hours. We all had fun on the lake and the weather was not too bad, however as soon as we got home the rain, thunder and lightening started. We had fun on the lake and Kyla really enjoyed it for about the first hour and a half and then got too tired. We had a very nice day and Kyla is so lucky to have such a great Daddy!

This summer we have enjoyed heading over to Finger Lake State Park which is just a few minutes from our house, to have dinner, make smores, canoe, swim... Kyla loves going in the water, but has only got about waist deep in the cold water. Hopefully we will get some warmer weather so the lake can warm up a bit. Kyla was so excited to see the duck with her 7 baby ducklings on the beach. We sat their and watched them for awhile as the cuddled up, flapped their tiny little wings and took a swim in the lake.

Soccer

Kyla is having a great time playing soccer. Her team started last week and they play for about an hour once a week. The first half an hour is a practice followed by a half an hour game. Kyla has Daddy as her coach and their team name is the White Tigers. Kyla really wanted to be the Zebras, but more kids wanted to be the tigers. Kyla was bummed at first that she was not a Zebra until she looked at pictures on Jons IPad at White Tigers and saw how cute they were. There are seven kids on the team, 4 girls and 3 boys. They are a bit of handful for Jon, but he is really enjoying coaching them and Kyla just loves having him at the coach. On soccer days he is just the coolest person in the world to her. Kyla is #3 just like she wanted to be. She is doing very well and even scored her first goal during a game on the second day. She really likes the kids on her team and is having a great time, it is so fun to watch them play (even if it is in the pouring rain)!

Relay For Life

Kyla brought her babies out for a walk on day  2 at the Relay for Life

Kyla helped Ashley and April carry the team sign

Team Good Day "Every Day is a Good Day!"

My mom made a donation to have Kyla's Picture taken as Dolly Parton

Kyla, My Mom and I joined Aunt Lynn, Ashley, Michelle and April to support their Relay for Life Team Good Day in honor of Uncle Dave. We walked with them until 11 p.m. on Friday night, we did not think we would stay so long but Kyla was still happy so we stayed and she did not go to bed until midnight that night. We enjoyed walking for a good cause and visiting with them and decided to head back over in the morning. Kyla liked the bounce house and there were some kids that she had fun walking with on Saturday. That night  she fell asleep whispering to herself  "Logan and Dylan", I guess she did not want to forget their names!

Colony Days

My mom came out to Palmer on Friday and we went to Colony Days in Palmer. Sarah, Ethan and Ella met us there for awhile and they had a great time in the kids area. They played for awhile in the bounce house, blow-up slide and obstacle course. They also got their faces painted, did a couple art projects, got animal balloons and played a couple games. There was a ton of fun stuff for kids to do. After Sarah and her kids left, we met up with Michelle and Cody and walked around the Friday Flings open air market and went to the petting zoo. We took a lunch break at the perfect time because it started to rain, Kyla was really bummed that it was rainy because she wanted to go back over and jump on the trampoline. We walked around main street and went into a few antique shops and boutiques until the rain slowed down and then went back over to Colony Days so she could jump on the trampoline. It was her first time going on one of the trampolines with the harness and she LOVED it! At first she was just jumping a few feet high over and over, the guy asked her if she wanted to go higher and she said no, then he asked again and she said yes, and she had a blast. I could not believe how high she was bouncing on the trampoline and she was so excited giggling and squealing as she jumped. I wished I had my video camera on me, but I had just put it in the car since it was raining. We had a really fun time at Colony Days!
