Riding around in her car

Playing Bocce ball with Daddy

Kyla is loving summer time and the beautiful weather we have been having in Anchorage. With as much as Kyla loved being outside in the winter it was hard to imagine that she could possibly enjoy summer even more, but she does! She is having so much fun doing anything and everything outside. Summer has just begun here and already she is spending most of her time playing with her bike, car, wagon, water table, pool, going to parks, going on walks in the jogger and everything else that kids love to do in the summer. She also loves eating outside on her outdoor Tinkerbell chair. I am looking forward to how much free time we are going to have in June and July to enjoy all these fun summer activities that Kyla loves so much! We already have lots of plans for vacations and fun family outings for the summer.

Water Fun

So much fun in the pool!

Silly
Girl!

Filling the pool

Fun in the water table

Kyla has had a blast playing outside in the nice warm weather that we have been having the past week. We had temperatures in the upper 60's and low 70's and we spent a lot of time outside playing. One day Kyla went out to play around 8:30 am and we were outside until 9 that night and had every meal outside too. Daddy bought her a little pool to play in and she also spent a lot of time playing in the water table, sprinkler, in her car and on her bike. She loves the water so much! It is so nice to have beautiful warm weather finally!

Gardening

Raking the Garden

planting seeds with Grandma
Kyla playing in the garden with all of her own gardening tools

Helping plant onions

So much Fun!

Kyla has been having a great time in the garden and greenhouse. Kyla has helped plant potatoes, peas, radishes, beets, onions and carrots in the garden. She enjoys playing with the shovels, rakes and the wheelbarrow. She even found a worm to play with in the garden while helping my mom. She likes watching the plants grow and talking about the plants. Everytime that she points to wear the radishes are she says "spicy". It will be fun for Kyla when the plants are all ready to pick and eat. She loves most of the vegetables that are planted in the garden. I am sure she will eat lots of broccoli, peas, potatoes, beets and carrots when they are ready.

Cool Rides

Riding on the lawn mower with Grandma

Riding on the 6 wheeler with Papa

taking the sprint car wheelchair for a ride

Kyla has got the chance to ride on some pretty cool vehicles in the past couple of weeks. Kyla rode the riding lawn mower with Grandma and Grandpa while they mowed their lawn. She also rode around the yard on Grandpa's 6 wheeler while he took it for a spin before heading up to the cabin. We are planning to go to the cabin with them soon and then she can go on a real fun ride through the mud on it. She also rode around on grandpa's friends decked out wheel chair. It was given to him as a joke at his retirement party, he races sprint cars so his friends from work turned an old wheel chair into a sprint car wheelchair for him. Kyla thought that each of these were pretty cool to take out for a ride.

22 months

Kyla loves blowing bubbles

Trying to pop bubbles...

Pop!

Bubbles, bubbles

Kyla is 22 months old!!! Only two more months until Kyla is a big 2 year old, However if you saw the fits that she has started to throw you might think she is already in her terrible two's! Lately if she is not getting what she wants she screams so loud and her body goes limp so that you can not even pick her up. You just have to let her get it out and then a minute later she is perfectly fine like nothing ever happened. Luckily she is not doing this too often, because it can be a little embarrassing when she does this in public.

Other than that, Kyla is a very happy girl! She is enjoying the nicer weather, although I am still waiting for it to warm up more. She has spending a lot of her time playing in her water table with all of her water toys, going on wagon rides, riding in her car, riding her trike and blowing bubbles. She has also been enjoying going to the park frequently and absolutely loves the swings, slides and sand boxes. Also now that it is spring she has been enjoying going out and looking for the bunnies in my parents yard. There are two bunnies that we see almost every day and she loves them! We have also been going to the zoo pretty frequently, we even got a seasons pass.

With the increasing day light, which is now around 18 hours a day, Kyla is not sleeping nearly as much as before. Lately she is going to bed later, waking up earlier and napping less! She acts a little tired at times during the day, but is doing pretty good with the adjustment. With the longer days she is also wanting to get outside first thing in the morning and wants to stay out late at night playing as well.

Kyla has started to finally enjoy watching cartoons, she will beg for cartoons and then she will sit there and watch them for about 5 minutes while she has her morning bottle. This is about the only five minutes during the day that Kyla is not on the go!

Kyla has been eating non stop this month too, which explains the sudden growth spurt. It seemed like just over night she outgrew the majority of her 18 month clothes. She now weights 25 pounds and is 34 inches tall. She likes to eat pretty healthy, her favorite foods are broccoli, peas, corn, strawberries, eggs, bagels with cream cheese and ketchup! Just like Jon she can eat Ketchup on anything, including on it's own. She also loves to eat cookies, especially homemade chocolate cookies. It is so funny to go the grocery store and see her get so excited when we walk by all of her favorite vegetables. I don't know if I have ever seen a kid beg for broccoli and peas!

Kyla is also working on developing her vocabulary more and more each day. She has become much better at putting a couple words together and copies absolutely every word that comes out of your mouth. She is learning pretty quickly and has picked up lots of funny things to say. We are still working on how she says "fit" and "bed", they both sound like the b-word, and "sit" can sometimes also sound like a bad word! If you didn't know better you would definitely think she had a dirty mouth! She keeps us pretty entertained with the funny things she says!

Big girl

The Escape!

So Easy...

Almost out

One more step

There she goes

Helping Daddy turn the crib into a toddler bed

So Proud!

One little monkey jumping on the bed!

Night, Night Kyla!

Kyla big girl!!! She is now sleeping in a toddler bed! She quickly learned how to climb out of both her crib and pack'n'play, and once she had it figured out she would climb out the second you put her in. It is amazing how they figure out how to perfectly climb out to avoid falling. She was pretty proud of herself and was feeling pretty big while Daddy converted her crib into a toddler bed. She was so excited I did not think that she would even be able to sleep. I layed her down at bed time and it sounded like the transition was going to be simple. Then about 5 minutes later she started crying and opened the bedroom door to get out. After that she did not want her nighttime music on, wanted the bedroom lights on and wanted nothing to do with her big girl bed. She finally went to bed about 2 1/2 hours later with us in our bed and then once she was asleep I layed her in her own bed. She stayed there until about 5:00 in the morning and then wanted out again. I am sure the transition will take a few days, but hopefully we can figure it out soon. It is amazing how big of deal this little change seemed to her.

Relay for Life

Ashley, Cody, Michelle, Lynn, Grandma Elsie, April, My Mom, Kyla and Me at the Relay for Life

Kyla blowing bubbles and wearing the stickers that they made in honor of Dave that said "everyday is a good day"

Today My mom, Kyla and I went out to walk in the Relay for Life in support of team "Good Day" in honor of my Uncle Dave. Lynn and the girls had decided to put a team together and they all stayed their at the track the entire time. We just went for a few hours and enjoyed the nice weather while walking around and visiting with family. Kyla did some laps in the stroller, some walking and running and some being carried. She was very interested in the paper lanterns that were placed around the track in honor of the people who have lost their lives to cancer and cancer survivors. It was a beautiful day to be outside and we look forward to being able to participate more in next years Relay for Life.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

We are having a great day! This morning Kyla and Jon got me flowers and a latte, then we went to a very good brunch at Sourdough Mining Company. After brunch we went over and got chocolate roses at Alaska Wildberry Products. Today is a beautiful sunny day so after brunch we played in Kyla's water table in the greenhouse, since it is not quite warm enough to play in the water outside. We are having lots of fun today!

Playing in the dirt, so fun!

Kyla, Ethan and Ruby roaming around!

This week Kyla had a great time playing with Ethan and Ella while I babysat them. They finally were able to play outside now that the snow has melted and the weather has been nice. They have a great backyard for letting the kids run around, it is all fenced in and has plenty of things to keep them busy. Kyla absolutely loves their playhouse and sandbox, she also had a wonderful time sitting in the wagon with Ethan while I pulled them all over the yard. It is great to be able to get them outside so they can burn off some extra energy running around rather than being couped up in the house all day! It is so great to see them play so well toghether and enjoy being with eachother.
