Park and Puddles

Jon, Kyla and I spent a nice spring day going for a walk to the lake. Kyla has recently started to enjoy going for a stroller ride in her jogger that I could never get her to go in as a baby and toddler. Jon pushed her in the stroller all the way to the like on a snowy trail. After our walk to the lake she raced me running all the way to the park where we played for a long time. She loves going to parks so much! After the park she decided she wanted to walk home so walked over to the creek to look for ducks and then splashed in puddles the whole way home. She was just jumping and dancing in the puddles with a huge smile, it was so fun watching her.

In the past week it has finally been feeling a bit like Spring, and we are really enjoying it! We have been spending lots of time outside playing and the sun and warmer weather has been so nice after such a cold winter. The past week temperatures have gotten up to warmer and warmer every day. The snow is melting fast, but we have so much snow still. We were walking in the snow in the backyard and I kept sinking in the snow and the snow was as deep as the length of my legs.

The other day Kyla and I sat out on the front porch playing card games for a long time out in the sun, and it was so nice and relaxing. The temperature was 45 degrees and it felt wonderful! Kyla seems to have spring fever as bad as I do. I have been thinking about how to landscape our yard and planning out my fruit and vegetable garden and just can't wait for all of the snow to melt so that we can get busy on these projects out in the yard. Kyla keeps seeing that snow is melting in a few spots along the highway and has been so excited to see grass, although it is still a long time before it will be turning green. She also has seen snow melting from the roof and keeps telling me that the snow is melting and that it is going to be summer today. I wish.

Kyla saw her water table in my moms basement the other day and convinced me to bring it homw. We had a nice sunny day and she wanted to put it outside to play, so we comprimised and I let her play it in the house instead. It was 50 degrees out, but still not warm enough for that. It currently is light until 9 pm, which is perfect because it starts getting dark right at her bedtime, but soon it will be lighter much later and that is when it gets tricky to get her to bed.

Today we went for a walk to the nearby school, Kyla sat in the jogger and it is just a 10 minute walk that way. We played for a couple hours on the playground at the school and loved every minute of the sun, eventually it clouded up and we headed back home. Kyla really wanted to walk over to the lake too and see if there were any ducks there yet, but I decided to save that for another time this weekend.

Spring Break at the Cabin

We went up to the cabin over spring break and finally had some great weather while we were there, the last two times we went it was freezing (-30 degrees), and this time it was beautiful sunny weather and around 30 degrees. We were able to get out for lots of snowmachining in the sun. Kyla was having a good time riding her snowmachine on the lake, but it kept breaking down and getting stuck in the snow. After having it towed back to the cabin for the second time Papa went and borrowed a little snowmachine from a friend that had more power. She zoomed around all over the lake and even rode around behind the cabin in the deeper snow and did really well. We all immediately thought that now it is time to upgrade her to a new snowmachine. We also got to go ice fishing on the lake, It was Kyla's first time ice fishing and she loved it. She did not last too long, but she did catch two little fish and was so excited. Her cabin friends, Madeline, Paisely and Genevieve were all at their Grandparents cabin too, so she had fun playing with the girls while we enjoyed a big Seafood Dinner with my parents and a bunch of their friends. It was a fun few days at the cabin and like always Kyla was not ready to leave when it was time to go.

My Moms handywork

Some other things that my mom made for our new house:

Coffee Table and Side Table

Console Table

Coat Rack

...and Fireplace Mantle

I saw some curtains that I liked while looking on Pinterest and went and bought the exact fabric and my mom made us these curtains. They turned out looking really good and really added a lot of color to our house. I really liked the style of curtain for the kitchen window and she made it without a pattern to look exactly like I had seen. Besides the curtains, my mom also made us several tables, a mantle and a coat rack for the house. It has taken a while to get our house decorated and all of these things have really help add to our house and make it feel more like a home.
