Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Day Weekend with Mary, Shannon and Rory visiting us for five days. We have been looking forward to their trip for a long time and were so happy to have them visiting us. Kyla was beyond excited that they were here too. She was so happy to play with Rory and Rory was so good playing with her. Kyla and Rory played with pretty much every toy she has and Kyla barely let Rory leave her room. They had slumber parties in her bed each night and had so much fun together. I barely even talked to Kyla the entire time they were here because everything was all about Rory, she wanted only Rory's help and wanted to do whatever Rory was doing. It was very cute! While they were her we went to Seward so that Rory could go on the Kenai Fjords Glacier Cruise as part of a school project. In Seward we all went to the Sea Life Center. Kyla and Rory had a great time in the touching aquarium, kyla loved the Sea Stars and Sea Anemone, we had to head over to it twice for long visits. It was so fun to see Kyla so happy to see her Grandma, Aunt and Cousin.  We can't wait to see them in Seattle and Sunriver in another month and a half.

Ready to Grow Fruit and Vegetables!
I am so excited to have a garden! We have been so busy planning out our yard and getting ready for landscaping. We decided we needed to first get the garden in so I could get everything planted before it was to late for the growing season. My parents came over and we worked from noon until almost midnight and then started again first thing the next morning and worked a few more hours. It was a lot of work, but we got it done and it turned out great. Kyla had a great time being outside, playing in the dirt and riding the 6 wheeler around the yard. Next, we need to some gravel and soil delivered and get started on the lawn.

Reindeer Farm

We went to the Reindeer Farm today in Butte. I had never been before and we were not too impressed either. It was a cold and windy day and Kyla really did not enjoy the smell of the Reindeer, Caribou, Moose and Bison. We first did the self guided tour looking at the animals and then went on the tour with a small group where we got to feed the Caribou and Moose. Kyla was pretty scared feeding the Caribou, they were pretty pushy trying to get the food and at one time she was surrounded by five of them all begging for a small handful of food. She could not even get the food out of the cup they gave her because they were constantly nudging at her. She also did not like how they curled their tongue around her hand to eat. She had no interest in feeding the moose, which they were having people feed them bananas by holding one end in your mouth and then holding it up to their mouth for them to grab, I did not blame her at all for not wanting to do that. After we left Kyla told me that it was a bad idea to go there and that she did not like the Reindeer Farm at all.

Yard Work Day 2: Bobcat

Today Steve came over with a bobcat that we rented from a friend of his and worked for about ten hours out in our yard getting the ground leveled out and removing all the trees stumps from the trees that we cut down a couple weeks ago. The temperature was really cold, in the mid-40's, and Steve was freezing sitting out in the bobcat all day. The yard looked great after he spent the day smoothing it out and preparing it for us to have topsoil delived so that we can get the grass planted. Kyla rode around in the Bobcat with him a few times and loved it!
