Next year I promise we will get more creative. There just seems to be a very limited amount of girly costumes for babies and toddlers, and the ladybug costume was so cute!!! It is cute to see the difference of 1 year in Kyla, I love looking at her baby pictures!

15 months old!

Kyla with her big balloon! She loves balls, balloons and bubbles!

Kyla playing with her mega blocks!

So much fun!!!

Kyla is 15 months old today!!! What a big girl she is becoming!

Kyla has had a wonderful month since our move to Alaska! In the last month she has had a lot of time with Mommy and Grandma. She has also met a ton of new friends around her age and has had a lot of fun play dates in all kinds of new places. She really is enjoying a lot of time outdoors, going for walks, hikes, playing in her car, playing at the playground and much more.

Kyla has also began to extend her vocabulary, the other day I was feeding her and she said "veggies", Jon and I both laughed. We also just got Kyla her first toilet training toilet and hope that we can start the training process soon. She already seems very interested in sitting on it and playing with it. I think that Kyla really thinks of herself as a big girl and she is always so proud of herself when she does "big kid" things.

Kyla absolutely loves to dance, her favorite song to dance to is "twinkle twinkle little star", I will try to get a video of her dancing to post. She also really likes "if your happy and you know it", "row your boat" and "itsy bitsy spider". She is so cute when she dances, I hope to get her in some sort of dance or music class as soon as she is old enough.

Her favorite toys at 15 months old seem to be toys that she can sort shapes in, blocks, little people house and her toy kitchen.

Kyla is now almost 21 pounds and 32 inches tall, which puts her in the 25th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height. Every where we go we seem to comments on how tall she is, many people think that she is closer to being 2 years old because she is so tall.

Kyla has so much energy, she is very strong-willed (she is great at throwing temper tantrums and is very very stubborn) and she is a very funny girl. She is also becoming a little shy around new people and in large groups. I love being able to spend all of my time with her and everyday is full of joy!

Haloween Party

Yesterday was a very full day for Kyla and us. In the morning we had to take Kyla in to get her 15 month shots, hard to believe she will be 15 months in just 1 more day now!!! We went to a new pediatrician since we have moved and they had three nurses in the room each holding a shot and on the count of three all administered the shot at once. Jon was the one holding her down, so I had to look at her poor little sad face when she was getting the shots :(

After the shots we went to an outdoor expo show where Jon got information on backcountry skiing and trailmaps. Kyla was given a giant balloon at one of the snowmachine booths. She was so funny walking around with a balloon bigger than her!

In the afternoon we went to the family dinner for the moms group. Unfortuantley by this time her lack of napping for the day and soar legs had got the best of her. She did fine at the party, but was just wanting to play in a quiet place by herself rather than with the 20 or so kids who were there. Her costume was very cute and she did not mind having it on at all. It was a great dinner and all of the dads finally got to meet eachother as well as see the other kids they here so much about. The party was such a great success that Jamie, the organizer, already sent out an e-mail last night about starting a planning committee for a christmas family party.

Jon, Kyla and I had a great weekend. Since Jon is new to Alaska he has been eager to get out and explore the area. This weekend we decided to go for a drive to Whittier, which is a small fishing town about an hour south of Anchorage. In order to get to Whittier you have to go through a tunnel through the mountain for almost 3 miles, it is the longest tunnel of its kind in North America. You actually have to drive on the train tracks though the mountain and only one way of traffic can go at a time. The town was really neat to see, but the weather was awful and we were there during the off season. I am looking forward to going back in the summer and doing some kayaking.

We also went for a hike with one of my friends up in the mountains near anchorage this weekend. Jon has been really wanting to get out and hike ever since getting here. It was a fun hike and we enjoyed talking with Jessica while hiking. Kyla was in the backpack and did great on the hike, even in the rain! We did run into a couple of moose, but luckily no bears! I have been a little nervous to go hiking because at this time of year the moose and bears are more aggressive. This weekend Jon also ran into an old friend from college who now lives up here too, he is excited to have a good friend here and is really happy to have a ski buddy here.

Jon and I also took Kyla to a fun little park near my parents house, she loves the park!!! Last week I also took Kyla on a playdate to a great indoor playground/coffee shop, she had such a great time. This is going to be a great place for playdates during the winter months. This week we also have a playdate at a place call bouncin bears, which is an inflatable indoor playground, it looks like a lot of fun. I am very happy with the moms group that I have joined, the people in it are great and the activities are well planned. This Friday Jon will get a chance to meet the families during a family night that the group is hosting where we will have the kids dressed in their halloween costumes, we will have dinner and the kids will paint pumpkins.

Fall Leaves

Jon, Kyla and I had a great time playing outside yesterday with all of the leaves that have fallen from the trees. Jon was making Kyla laugh so hard by throwing leaves at her. She really has a great time exploring and playing outside. A few days ago we went for a walk with a friend to Campbell Lake and Kyla was bundled up in her new snowsuit to keep warm, she was so cute and never fussed at all about the cold weather. Jon commented this morning that she was meant to be a little Alaskan girl. She is usually happiest when she is outside and whenever she sees shoes or a coat gets excited and runs to the door expecting to go out and play.
