Mrs. Pumpkin Head

Kyla has been excited for Halloween for so long now. We got our Halloween decorations out in the beginning of September when I was looking for her trick or treating bag for Trick or Treat in the Heat and she was ready to decorate the house. She has also wanted to buy a pumpkin almost every time we are at the store, so we bought a bag of eight miniature pumpkins for her to decorate with and the she really wanted to carve a pumpkin. I wasn't quite ready to carve one yet, so I bought her a Mrs, Potato Head Pumpkin decorating kit. She had so much fun making her princess pumpkin and now she might be willing to wait a few more weeks to carve a pumpkin since we have this cute pumpkin sitting on the porch.

Raking Leaves

Kyla helped us rake the yard by sitting in the wheelbarrow and going for rides in a big pile of leaves. She was having a great time and we ended up with a huge pile of leaves for her to play in.

Gardening

We enjoyed our first summer of having a garden and Kyla was a good little helper in the garden. She helped with planting, watering, weeding, picking and eating fruit and vegetables out of the garden. We grew Raspberries, Strawberries, Gooseberries, Currants and Raspberries in the fruit garden and in the vegetable garden we grew peas, carrots, potatoes, lettuce, spinach, herbs, broccoli and cauliflower. We also had a few things that didn't grow well, we tried growing zucchini, onions and radishes and none of them produced. Hopefully next summer we will have more sun and the garden will do even better.

Pyrahs Fall Festival

We went to the Pyrahs Fall Festival for the third year in a row. The weather was not very nice and almost made us stay home, but we decided to go anyway and had fun. Kyla wanted to do everything there was to do, but also was in a huge hurry to do everything since it was rainy, windy and cold. She really liked all of the games and the petting zoo. She wanted to sit and watch the band play, but was too cold. We picked some lettuce out in the fields and had a corn dog and caramel apple and then headed home.

Trick or Treat in the Heat

We went to Trick or Treat in the Heat in Eagle River to celebrate a early Halloween before it is too cold. The event raised over $40,000 to donate to the Ronald McDonald House, Make a Wish Foundation and Hospice of Anchorage. The event was lots of fun, it started with games, face painting and dancing to a DJ and thenfor a few hours there was trick or treating throughout the neighborhood. Lots of the houses had really cool halloween decorations and Kyla ended up with lots and lots of candy and we didn't even go to all of the participating houses. Kyla was dressed as a ghost in a costume that Grandma made her, she was very cute and had a great time.

H2Oasis Indoor Water Park

Kyla and I have been going to the parent-tot swim at H2Oasis waterpark in the morning every once in awhile. She loves playing in the pool, practicing swimming in the pool with her kickboard and going down the waterslides. I really want to get her in swimming lessons, but all the pools lessons are full and have been for as long as I have been looking.

First Field Trip

Kyla had her first field trip for her preschool. They went to Pyrahs to go on a wagon ride around the farm, pick vegetables and see the farm animals. Most of the parents all went on the field trip as well. She was so excited for the field trip and we had a really good time. Kyla only wanted to pick carrots, so we brought home lots of carrots. The weather was not very nice, it was really windy and cold and all the animals were sleeping and Kyla also fell fast to sleep as soon as we got into the car. She has two more field trips coming up, one to a bakery and one to a fire station, she is very excited about both and wants me to go with her on both of them too.

Alaska State Fair

We had a fun time going to the Alaska State Fair this year. Since we live much closer to the fair we went to more of the State Fair events. On friday night we went to the fair and watched fireworks in the pouring rain, the fireworks were good but with all the rain they were also very smokey. On Saturday we went to the State Fair Parade in downtown Palmer and then on Sunday we went to the State Fair with Grandma. Kyla went on lots of rides. The next weekend we went to the fair again and Kyla went on lots more rides, her favorites were the swing and the tilt a whirl. She also loved the petting zoo and cotton candy, she had banana cotton candy the first fair day and orange the next and loved them both.
