After our Easter morning at home, we went over to Great Grandma Elsie and Great Grandpa Daves for Easter Lunch. Kyla was pretty worn out and not very playful while over there. Once we left she fell asleep in the car immediately and slept for awhile over at Grandmas house. Once she woke up she was ready for another egg hunt. At Grandmas there were eggs hidden out on the deck in bunny tracks where a real bunny had hopped earlier in the day. She got another Easter Basket and a cute little Princess doll to put in her baby carrier on her new bike. She had so much fun on Easter and ended the day with a sleepover at Grandmas house.

Happy Easter

Kyla had a very fun Easter. She woke up in the morning ready to do her egg hunt. As soon as she woke up she heard the dog next door barking and she said "the dogs barking, I think the Easter Bunny just left our house". I had to convince her to stay in her room for just a couple minutes to get Jon up so she could look for eggs. She did really good finding all of the eggs and her Easter Basket. She was so funny, she would find an egg open it up to see what was inside, close it, put in her Easter Basket and move on to the next egg, so the egg hunt took quite awhile. Kyla also got a very special suprise from the Easter Bunny, a new bike! She has had her eye on this Princess bike with training wheels and a baby carrier on the front ever since Christmas, and she was thrilled to finally get it. And with the temperatures warming up and the snow melting she should be able to ride it soon.

Other things that Kyla got from the Easter Bunny in her basket were bubbles, Coloring pages and makrkers, jump rope, yo-yo, stamps, tattoos and candy. She was so excited about all the fun things that she got in her basket and in the eggs.

Easter Egg Hunts

Today we woke up to a few new inches of snow and it snowing out really hard. Kyla was still very interested in going to an Easter Egg Hunt, so we bundled up in all of winter gear and headed to a egg hunt at a church, the egg hunt for her age was pretty small. We had decided to do the egg hunt at the church instead of the other one in town that was at Sportsman's Warehouse, but since it was over so quickly we headed over to that one too. Kyla was pretty excited to do two egg hunts. The second one was also outside and there were a ton of people! Her age group was for ages 0-3 and there were probably a few hundred kids in just that age group. Luckily, there were probably thousands off eggs scattered around and she probably got ten. I could not believe how crazy it was, I seriously could not even believe that there were that many kids that live here. If I even took my eyes off of Kyla for a second I had trouble finding her in the crowd. I talked to several moms who said that their kids didn't even get a single egg because of how big the crowd was. She did at least get some good candy in her eggs. Usually at Halloween and Easter it is all hard candy to suck on and we end up throwing it all away. She was very happy with both Easter egg hunts and had a great time. At the first Easter Egg hunt she would pick up an egg, open it to see what was in it, show me and then move on to finding the next egg. She learned in time for the second egg hunt that you just have to get all the eggs you can find and then look in each one after the egg hunt, otherwise we would have probably ended up with just one egg. Kyla can't wait for the Easter Bunny to come to our house and hide more eggs for her to wake up to tomorrow.

Coloring Eggs

We decorated eggs yesterday with dye and sponge paint rollers. Kyla had lots of fun decorating each one. She helped but the shrinky wrappers on some, and also decorated them with stickers after the dye. She had me decorate one egg and did all the rest herself. She did end up breaking four of the eighteen eggs that we had boiled, so we ended up having egg salad sandwiches for dinner. She had so much fun with the eggs that when she woke up today she asked if we could dye more eggs.

Easter Basket from Seattle

Today we were pulling in the driveway and I told Kyla that I could see a box at the front door. I thought at first it was something for Jon, then realizing Easter was coming up I told her that it was probably a Easter box for her. She got so excited and ran to the front porch to get the box and was beyond excited when she read her name on the box. We came right inside so she could open her box from Grandma Mary and Grandad Brian. She was so excited about everything in the box. In the box was a Easter Basket filled with all kinds of goodies, she recieved a beautiful Easter dress and Sweater, a painting book, lipstick, a chocolate bunny, lollypops, jellybeans, stickers and her favorite was a cute little bunny from build-a-bear with three different outfits and a gift card to build a bear. Kyla absolutely loves bunnies and was thrilled to get a new bunny. She immediately started dressing the bunny in all of its cute clothes and took a nap with it soon after. She is really looking forward to Easter this year.

Planting Seeds

Kyla and I started planting some seeds last night to get a head start on some flowers and herbs and peppers to plant a garden this summer. Kyla loves princess stuff and I saw a really cute little princess seed starting set and princess flower seeds at Home Depot and had to get them for her so that she could have her own seeds to be responsible for and so that she would be even more excited to watch them grow. She had a great time helping me get soil into the pots, plant the seeds and water them. However she did not listen to well as to how many seeds to put in each cell, so I think we will have a lot more plants sprouting soon then I expected to have. She was also so excited about the the little labels we stuck in each plant that she took most of them out to look at them, so now it will be a wild guess what is growing in each pot. She did not get her hands on the herbs and peppers so I do know which ones they are. She is already expecting to see them grow and it has only been about twelve hours since we planted them.

Water Table Play

Last week Kyla was so excited to get her water table from Grandma's house and bring it home. She is pretty convinced that it is going to be summer anyday now. We ended up filling it up with water in the house and let her get her swimsuit on and play. She had so much fun playing it that she has now been playing with it a few times already this week.

Reading

Kyla has always loved books and we have a ton of books. We read books everyday and now that she is getting older it has been really fun to see her get interested in learning to read. Lately she likes to grab a book and read it from memory. I am suprised how many of her books she has memorized almost word for word, she will even use words in the book that are not a part of her normal vocabulary. She also has become very interested in books with rebus icons which are books that have some pictures in the sentences so that she can read along with me, or the pictures give her a better idea of what the story is saying and she will read the whole thing by herself. We had checked out a rebus book from the library and she loved it so much she kept saying that she wasn't going to give it back to the library, so I had to go find it at the bookstore to buy her so that I could convince her to return her library book. It is so fun to watch her with her books and I am glad that she loves reading as much as she does. Kyla has so many books and each week we also go to the library and check out lots of books. Every day we read and she is very aware of the sounds the letters make, what rhymes and letter recognition. She thinks that she can read since she has so many books memorized and she will occasionally even read books to her friends Ethan and Ella.

Park and Puddles

Jon, Kyla and I spent a nice spring day going for a walk to the lake. Kyla has recently started to enjoy going for a stroller ride in her jogger that I could never get her to go in as a baby and toddler. Jon pushed her in the stroller all the way to the like on a snowy trail. After our walk to the lake she raced me running all the way to the park where we played for a long time. She loves going to parks so much! After the park she decided she wanted to walk home so walked over to the creek to look for ducks and then splashed in puddles the whole way home. She was just jumping and dancing in the puddles with a huge smile, it was so fun watching her.
