Way too many choices...

The sunset from our new place, I did not do the colors justice!

We have been enjoying the outdoors near where we are living. We took Kyla to the park near where are now living and she LOVES it! She had so much fun playing at the park and wore herself out playing so hard. She is so adventurous and will climb on anything! There were two park areas there, one for ages 1-3 and one for ages 4-12. She had a great time on both but spent most of her time on the one for older kids. It is a new playground and the equipment is great! I am glad that she really liked the park because she can sometimes be pretty picky about park equipment.

Kyla is also enjoying the new place where we are living. The house is on 13 acres of land, so there is plenty of area to walk around and play outside. There is a pond on the property that she enjoys walking too and we have been going there almost daily. There are fish in the pond and we have seen moose near there too. There are an incredible amount of moose around here, we see anywhere from one to five moose each day near the house. We have also seen bunnies and a porcupine. But, so far no bear!
We are really enjoying are place, the views are fantastic and the sunsets (at midnight!) are beautiful from here too. The valley that we are in is beautiful with mountain, inlet and city views, a lot of trees, many streams and ponds, lots of wildlife and it is a very safe and quiet area with great schools, also it is close to my parents house for frequent visits. We like this area so much that we have even started to look around in the area for land that is for sale to build on at some point.

Wildlife Refuge & Portage

Today Jon, Kyla and I went to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where injured and orphaned Alaskan animals are taken care of until they are well enough to be released to the wild. We saw all of Kyla's favorite animals close up. The day was pretty rainy so we drove around and just got out near each animal. It is a really neat area that is a very natural setting for the animals. Kyla loved being in her rain gear and rain boots and splashing around in the puddles. Towards the end of our visit Kyla was getting tired and was suddenly scared of all of the animals.

After leaving the wildlife refuge we decided to head over to Portage Glacier since it is so close by. The weather was awful at Portage so we just went into the Visitors Center which has a pretty neat museum. Kyla loved running around in the museum checking out all of the wildlife exhibits, kayaks, and listening to stories at the phone booths. We had a fun day out in the rain and it was Kyla's first time really playing out in the rain, which was adorable.

Cute Pictures from Grandma's Garden

Checking to see how the vegetables are growing

Pretty flowers

Today we went over to Grandma and Papa's to play. Kyla picked a small bouquet of flowers and carried them around for quite awhile. We played in the greenhouse, in her gardens and with the car and bike. Kyla was really wanting to see how the peas were growing, and was happy to see that everything in the garden was making process. Kyla also helped me and my mom put together her other toddler bed for when she has slumber parties or is wanting to take a nap at Grandma's.

Sleep : (

One of the many stange sleep positions we have found Kyla in

Kyla has been having a very rough time sleeping lately. For quite a while she has been in the same routine everyday waking up around 6 am, napping around 11:30 am and going to bed between 8:30-9 pm. But lately she does not want to sleep at all. She has been skipping her nap some days and then when she does nap it is not until around 5 pm and then she stays up every night now until 11 or 12! I do not like her schedule at all and we are trying so hard to get her back to a normal schedule but she simply does not want to sleep and is fighting it so hard. Since she is no longer in a crib we can not contain her to one spot to fall asleep either. Most nights she has fallen asleep in Jon's arms after hours of trying to get her to sleep. She has also fallen asleep on the floor playing, standing up, and half way in her crib. We are really hoping that we can get back to a normal sleep routine soon and that we can all get some sleep.

Lost Cat

Kyla and Bam Bam
Kyla loves her cat

Our Indoor Cat Bam Bam got outside when I opened the garage door and has now been missing for 2 weeks. We have looked around the neighborhood and at the animal shelter and have not found him. We have had him for almost 9 years. Kyla really liked her cat and he was very gentle and nice to her. He had been living in my parents garage since we moved to Alaska. We had such a hard time finding a house to rent that we liked that allowed pets and had finally found one just before he ran away. If he would have just waited another couple of weeks he would have been living in the house with us and getting more attention than he would have known what to do with. We miss our kitty and hope that he is having fun exploring his surroundings.

Having fun with her toys

Kyla loves color wonder markers

We had a very fun and busy Memorial Day Weekend! The weather was beautiful and we spent a lot of time outside. We went to the farmers Market Downtown and listened to alot of live music and walked around looking at all the booths, it will be awhile before they actually have fresh produce. We also went to a park that a friend of mine likes taking her kids to, but Kyla was not too impressed and did not feel like playing there. We spent a lot of time playing in water, riding her bike and just being outside having fun.

We also got all moved into our new place which was a lot of work with how much stuff we have. We had been going though boxes for awhile deciding what would go, what would stay and what we could get rid of. It was fun seeing what all we had packed away, some of our stuff has been packed away for 2 years since that was when we sent some stuff up with my parents when they drove from Utah to Alaska. We also got to buy some new stuff too which was also fun to shop for. We are enjoying the new place and getting close to having things completely put away. Kyla really seems to like her new play area in the bedroom and is happy to be sitting at the dinner table with us in a booster seat rather than having a high chair. Kyla got a little sad when we took all of her toys out of my parents house, but perked right up once she saw them all here. We are living up in the mountains in the lower level of a nice bed and breakfast. We have a Gorgeous views of the mountains right behind us and of the inlet. I will take pictures to post of our nice views once the weather clears up again. We are looking forward to seeing the wild life in our front yard, but I am just hoping we don't see a bear too close up, the area of town we are living in is called Bear Valley. We are about 10 minutes away from my parents house so we will still spend a lot of time over their playing with Grandma and Grandpa in their yard.

Kyla is loving summer time and the beautiful weather we have been having in Anchorage. With as much as Kyla loved being outside in the winter it was hard to imagine that she could possibly enjoy summer even more, but she does! She is having so much fun doing anything and everything outside. Summer has just begun here and already she is spending most of her time playing with her bike, car, wagon, water table, pool, going to parks, going on walks in the jogger and everything else that kids love to do in the summer. She also loves eating outside on her outdoor Tinkerbell chair. I am looking forward to how much free time we are going to have in June and July to enjoy all these fun summer activities that Kyla loves so much! We already have lots of plans for vacations and fun family outings for the summer.
