20 Months

Playing Legos...her favorite thing to do!

Kyla dressing her Potato Head

Hiding all of her little people in her pajamas

It seems like this past month has been full of changes and that Kyla has grown up a bit. She is playing with a lot of different toys than she was before, is talking a lot, staying up later and waking up earlier and has become more opinionated then she was before.

This last month Kyla's favorite toys have been small legos rather than the mega blocks she liked before, Mrs. Potato head and sticker books. If Kyla had no other toys than these three things I think she would still be perfectly happy!

Some of the new things that Kyla is doing include walking up and down stairs holding your hand or the railing rather than crawling up and sliding down. She has become more creative in her dance moves, shaking her hips and spinning. She now will say "bum" when she needs to go potty. She will only allow Daddy to brush her teeth. When Daddy brushes her teeth it is a game, when I brush her teeth I have to wrestle her while she is crying and trying her best to squirm away. Kyla loves bath time and plays each night in the bathtub for quite a while.

Kyla is also obsessed with moose. We have not seen a moose in the yard for a few weeks, but everyday she looks at the window and says "moose gone" followed by "house". I told her after the moose left several weeks ago that the moose was gone and went to someone elses house. Whenever we are in the car and see a moose she gets very excited and talks about moose the entire car ride.

Kyla loves to play and laugh. She loves to be tickled, whenever she is tickled she laughs so hard and keeps asking for more, it is very cute! She also likes to make you laugh by making funny faces and being silly. Kyla is talking a lot more each day. She loves to talk!!! It is so fun to see Kyla learn so many new words, she can repeat almost anything you say and is able to actually communicate with you what she wants. Today we were looking at an animal book and she said "elephant" and then put her arm to her face and swung it like an elephant trunk while making the sound of it spraying water, it was very cute! I love how smart and funny she can be.

Here is a picture of me playing with the same legos when I was about 3 years old

Kyla has absoulutely loved playing with Legos lately. My mom saved the legos that my sister and I had as kids for when she had Grandkids, and Kyla LOVES them!!!

First thing in the morning Kyla wakes up and wants to play Legos. She will sit and play legos for more than an hour and is so particular about where each Lego goes. She like you to help her build big elaborate castles and towers, but she will also let you know if you put the Lego in the wrong spot! At night Kyla again wants to play Legos for an hour or so before bed time and gets so upset when it is time to put them away and go to sleep. Last night she stayed up an extra hour past her usual bed time playing with them. It is so cute to see her so interested in something and see her imagination at work!

Having Fun!

Kyla loves to empty the legos out of this box and then go for rides in it!

Today Kyla, Jon and I went downtown to see all of the Fur Rondezvouz celebrations going on. Fur Rondy is an annual celebration to get people together outside for a good time. This year was the 75th annual Fur Rondy. In the morning we went to see the parade in the freezing cold! It was around 15 degrees out during the parade, but Kyla did not seem to mind the cold weather and enjoyed watching the parade. After the parade we walked around the carnival and watched the first few dog mushers start their race. By then we were pretty cold and decided we would head home and maybe come back later for the fireworks tonight.

The Beautiful drive along the inlet and mountains to Alyeska!

Today Jon, Kyla and I went down to Alyeska Ski Resort for Kyla to ski for her second time. It was a beautiful day out and the temperature was around 40 degrees, perfect spring skiing conditions! Kyla played around on the bunny hill for an hour or so skiing and having Daddy hold her while he skied down the hill. Kyla had a lot of fun going through these fun little tunnels. Kyla was a little more cautious skiing today than she was last time, but still had fun for the most part. If the weather continues staying warm we will be able to start getting her out on her skis more frequently and get her more use to being on them.

After skiing we went to lunch and then to a super fun park near the Mountain. Kyla had a blast at the park, it was by far her favorite park that we have gone to so far. It was amazing to watch how much better she can get around on the parks play equipment compared to even just a couple of months ago. She no longer requires any help walking up and down the stairs, getting on to the slide or anything else. She was having such a great time all morning that she did not even act the slightest bit tired despite playing two hours past her normal nap time. It was a really fun day and I look forward to repeating it many more times this spring!

19 Months

Our Princess!

All bundled up!

So much fun sledding!

So Cute!

Having fun out sledding!

Kyla is now 19 months old!!! Kyla is a talker, in the past month her vocabulary has improved so much!!! She copies almost everything you say, although she still is not saying all words correctly, she is giving it her best shot. Kyla has even started putted two words together. Today I told her I was taking her plate and bottle downstairs and that I would be right back, she looked at me and said "those downstairs", it is just so amazing to hear her learn so many new words everyday.

Also, new this month is that she is obsessed with babies. Everywhere we go she sees babies and says "baby" and gets excited. She also loves playing with babies, strollers, bottles, baby blankets... Since I watch this baby Ella a couple times a week she also calls most babies Ella. Also, everytime that I get her out of the bath tub and wrap her up in her towel she says "baby", it is very cute!

Kyla is so much fun, has a wonderful sense of humor and is full of energy and joy. It is amazing watching her learn and grow each day!

Family Portraits

Today we had Family Portraits done for the first time through Jon's work. Jon, Kyla and I had a few different outfits that we posed for pictures in. Kyla did really well and smiled for the camera during many of the pictures. At first she was a little unsure, but she warmed up pretty quickly. Jon's work was training some photographers so we were able to have no sitting fee plus received half off all the pictures we purchased. They all turned out really well so we ended up getting a lot of pictures. It was a lot of fun having family portraits done and I can't wait to do them more often. I will post some of the pictures later once we get them.

Kyla and her First Snowman

Today Kyla and I went out and built Kyla's first snowman. The weather has finally been a little warmer making the snow sticky enough to build a snowman for the first time this winter. Kyla loved making the snowman and decorating it. She seemed very proud of it. When Daddy got home she took him out to see her snowman too. I look forward to building many more snowmen with Kyla, especially once she is able to help me with it a little more.
