Mean Moose

Kyla out on the deck (there is a moose by the tree behind her)

The moose that came by to ruin are fun

Trudging through the deep snow

Snowy Moose

We were heading outside to go sledding again this afternoon, we were all dressed and ready to go when we saw a moose out by our sledding hill. We decided to just play on the deck instead with the shovel since we were all dressed. We were only out for a couple minutes when the moose decided to trudge through the snow towards us. I ran inside with Kyla and then quickly peaked out to get a few pictures. Our sledding fun was ruined! We will have to wait and see if she leaves the yard before dark so that we can go outside to play.

Milk and Cookies!

Yum, Yum!

Cookies and a bottle!

Yesterday I baked some cookies, I thought these pictures were pretty cute of Kyla enjoying her cookies and milk.

Heading inside!

Today we decided to build a sledding hill in the yard for Kyla to play on. We just got a good amount of snow in this last snow storm and have large piles of snow from plowing. Kyla loves sledding and each time we go she gets more and more daring wanting steeper and longer sledding hills. She had a lot of fun on her new sledding hill until getting tired and deciding to head in for a nap. After nap time we will be heading out for some more fun sledding.

Bath Time

Bathing Beauty

Having fun in the tub

Bubble bath!!!

Happy girl!

Kyla has had a strange fear of the tub for the past week and a half. She has been extremely upset as soon as you even mention taking a bath or turn the bath water on. So, baths the past week and a half have been a huge struggle and we have just had to bath her as fast as we can while she is standing up screaming. It is very strange that she suddenly got scared of the bath because she has always loved to take baths and I know that nothing has happened to make her upset since I am always the one to give her baths. I was looking for a fun new bath toy that might help lure her back into taking baths but was unable to find anything interesting. Today my mom bought her a duck that you pour the bath bubbles into for a bubble bath and it worked she likes bath time again!!! It is a huge relief to get her in the bath without the big struggle, I am so happy that she is over her fear all of a sudden!

Poor Little Kyla

Trying to eat a little snack

Reading and Relaxing

Poor little Kyla has not been feeling well for the past week. She has been very sad I think part of it had to do with Jon being out of town for a week. She seemed to get a little happier once Jon got back home. She is also extremely tired and not sleeping well at all. She has had to cuddle with me in bed almost all night the past three nights, and since she tosses and turns like crazy I have not got any sleep the past three nights. She is also not wanting to eat much and not taking bottles of milk. I don't know if she is sick, teething or what is the matter but I hope that she perks up and starts feeling better soon! I hate seeing her unhappy and not looking well. I am hoping that we can both get a good night of sleep tonight.

Best Friends!

Kyla and Hannah looking pretty

Hannah and Kyla playing in their box house

Kyla and Hannah have a playdate with eachother every friday and love to play with one another. They are great friends and have so much fun together. They love to dance, do gymnastics, run around, play outside, play with toys, color and read books. It is so fun to watch Kyla get so excited to play with her friend and she is so happy when they are together. I love watching them play and it is fun to see the new things Hannah does each week, knowing that Kyla (being a month younger) will be doing those things soon too. Kyla loves Hannah and loves their friday playdates.

Missing Daddy!

Even 3 bunnies don't make up for daddy being gone :(

Kyla is missing her DaDa very much while he is away for 1 week for work in Minnesota and some skiing with friends in Utah. She has talked to him on the phone many times but we can't wait to see him late Sunday night.

Our Little Skier!

Skiing to Daddy!

This Weekend Jon, Kyla and I went down to Alyeska Ski Resort for the weekend. Jon was so excited about me and Kyla staying down there that he went out and bought her a tiny little pair of skis so that she too could go ski. I was not so sure how well the skiing would go or if she would even let us put the skis on her, but it went amazingly well.

Friday night we went to a friends get together at her house and Kyla and her new friend Eli were up until midnight playing. We stayed the night at another friends Yurt and then woke up and took Kyla on her first ski trip!

Jon was very patient and gentle teaching Kyla to ski. It's good that he was formerly a ski instructor and knew exactly what to do and not to do with her. Kyla was very excited to go ski and loves to say "Ski". Jon and Kyla ended up doing four runs on the magic carpet and had a lot of fun. Kyla loves riding up on the magic carpet and had great balance standing on it.

Kyla took a few falls but was a very good sport and would just let Jon pick her up and she would be ready to go again. I was very amazed how well She did and she definitely had a very proud papa at the end of the day! We are looking forward to spending many more weekends at Alyeska skiing with Kyla.

Kyla is ONE AND A HALF!!!

The past month has been a month full of changes for Kyla. She has gone from two naps a day to just one mid-day nap, which is so much nicer! She has gone from only drinking milk out of bottles and water out of sippy cups to wanting regular cups or sippy cups with straws. At night time she wants to have her milk in a bottle. She has become an awful sleeper during the night and only wants to sleep in bed with us, she ends up in bed with us usually twice during the night for an hour or so. She is also getting 6 new teeth in all at once on the bottom, so I know she must be in pain and need the extra comforting from us. Her poor molars have been bleeding and look so painful :(

Kyla has expanded her vocabulary and is getting better at saying an entire word instead of always leaving out the last syllable. She is able to imitate the sounds of pretty much every animal. Kyla also still loves music as much as she always has and is now very interested in doing the hand movements to songs like itsy bitsy spider, twinkle twinkle, monkeys jumping on the bed, Miss Lucy had a turtle, popcorn popping on the apricot tree, the wheels on the bus...

Kyla also has two new friends Ethan and Ella, who I just started babysitting yesterday. Jon's boss had asked if I would watch her kids a few days a week while she goes to the office. It will be great for Kyla to have this regular playdate with them. It will also be nice for me make to some money without having to put Kyla in Child Care and take away from the time I get to spend with her. Kyla has so far played with Ethan three times and has a great time with him and loves to imitate everything he does and give him lots of hugs. Kyla also like the baby very much and likes to make sure she is well cared for. Kyla loves to give Ella her baby toys, pacifier and blanket and lets me know when I should put her in a bouncer, swing or playmat. I am glad that the three of them are doing so well together and that Kyla is not at all jealous of me caring for them.

This past month Kyla has become much more interested in books, puzzles and coloring. Kyla also really enjoys playing with babies. She loves to feed her baby dolls, change their diapers, give them pacifiers and carry them around or push them in a stroller. She looks so caring while playing with them, it is adorable!

Kyla is doing great with potty training, we just got brave enough to put her in underwear for short periods of time a few days ago and she loves it! She is now using a child size seat that goes on the regular toilet instead of just her potty training chair.

Kyla is a very happy girl, loves to talk, loves to dance, loves music and loves the outdoors! She gets so happy when there are other young children around and is becoming more and more social.

I can hardly believe that Kyla is already 18 months old. It seems like we just celebrated her first birthday and now we are already half way to her second birthday.

I love that I get to spend all of my time with Kyla and be present for all of her milestones and all the priceless moments! She is full of smiles and laughter and always keeps us busy and full of joy!
