Kyla and her cousins in Seattle!

We have had a great past two weeks visiting with Jon's family. We started out the month on a somber note going to Seattle to attend Jon's Grandmas Funeral. The Funeral was followed by a celebration of her life at David and Lisa's house. A lot of Jon's family was there and it was great to hear their stories and memories of Grandma Doreen. We were hoping for nice weather in Seattle since we are still getting snow in Park City, but we had rain and snow the entire time we were there.

Jon and I were happy to see many of his relatives that we only see every two years at their family reunion in Sun River, Oregon. Since we were not able to attend the reunion last summer it was nice to have them see Kyla while she is still a baby. Kyla also had a great time playing with Taylor. David and Lisa offered to have Kyla stay with Taylor and their nanny while we attended the funeral. Kyla loves to be around other babies and had a great time playing with Taylor and all of her toys. Kyla also played with Rory and Lauren, who are 8 and 6 years old. They dressed her up in all of Laurens necklaces and tried playing barbies with her. Kyla thought it was great getting so much attention from them. They thought that holding her was just the coolest thing and took turns passing her back and forth.

We returned home from Seattle and then left 12 hours later to fly to Hawaii for another vacation with Jon's family. Jon's parents have a time share in Kauai and invited us to go with them on Vacation. Jon's Aunt Sharon and Uncle Tony also have a tine share so they also went with their son Matt and his wife Tiffany and their 6 week old baby boy Landon. Their other son Steve and his girlfriend Paige also came for a few days. We had such a great time spending a week and half with family.

Kyla went swimming almost every day in either the pool at the resort or in the ocean. She was not so sure about the water at first but each day she liked it more and more and by the day we left she was just having a blast in the pool. She was even kicking her legs and trying to put her head under the water. I think that we are going to have to look into putting her in swim lessons this summer. Jon wants to make sure that she learns how to swim well and likes the water since I am such a poor swimmer and do not enjoy being in the water very much.

Kyla was great on our vacation and on the long airplane ride, but has become very attached to me lately. She has a hard time letting anyone play with her or hold her if I am in sight. But when we would leave her with her Grandma and Grandpa so we could spend time with Jon's cousins she was perfectly fine. We hope that she will outgrow this soon.

A couple of weeks ago Kyla took her first steps. She will now often take 3-5 steps before falling down. She walks very well holding onto furniture or toys and then gets too confident and lets go and tries to attempt walking on her own. She is very determined to walk on her own and we think that she will probably be doing it very soon. But while learning she has been falling so much, but so far has not got any bumps or bruises.

One of the highlights of our vacation was visiting with Jon's cousin Matt and his wife Tiffany and their baby boy. We were so excited to meet Landon and he is such a cute little baby boy. The one thing that suprised me was how tiny he seemed to me, and he is not a small baby. He was a big baby like Kyla when he was born, but for some reason I can already not even remember Kyla being that tiny. It is really so hard to beleive how fast they grow and how easily you forget how tiny they once were. Everyone always told me to enjoy her as a newborn because they grow so fast, and now I can understand why they say this. Kyla enjoyed being around Landon. Since he is so young he is still sleeping the majority of the day and Kyla did her best to try to wake him up whenever she was around him. She liked trying to climb on top of him and grab at his face. We look forward to the next time that we see them when he is a little older and able to play with Kyla.

Kyla spent her first Easter in Hawaii. In the morning we walked over to the Hyatt resort, which is so beautiful. Later in the morning we went to Brunch and then spent the majority of the day at the pool. Kyla recieved easter books and stuffed animals for Easter presents.

We are so grateful of Jon's parents for inviting us along on this vacation. It was such a great time and we look forward to going there with them again in the future. I am off of work again this week since it is spring break, so I am enjoying another week of spending time with Kyla and we are doing are best trying to get adjusted to the four hour time difference between Hawaii and Utah.

Kyla is now eight months old. It is hard to believe how fast she is growing. Kyla had a Doctors appointment the other day and now weighs 17 pounds. Kyla has had her first cold and has been coughing a lot the last two weeks and unfortunatley she also got two of her little friends at school sick. Her cough is much worse at night and in the early morning so we have not slept nearly as well the last couple of weeks.
Kyla is now crawling for real, not just scooting like she was before. It is so fun and exciting to watch her learn so many new things. She still is really wanting to walk and I don't think it will be long before she learns.

Jon has been in Italy the last two weeks for a ski trip with his friends. We missed him and were very excited to have him come home. While he was gone Kyla slept in bed with me most of the nights since she was having such a hard time sleeping and needed to have her head propped up to sleep better. But, now that Jon is home and her cold is getting better she is back in her room.

While Jon was in Italy we recieved bad news that his Grandma Doreen had a stroke. Jon was able to get to Seattle and visit her just before she passed away. There will be a funeral and a wake to celebrate her life on March 1 in Seattle so we will go there just before heading to Hawaii for a vacation.

Hello!

Alaska is too cold!

This month my sister and her two kids and Kyla and I went to Alaska to visit our family. It was very cold while we were up there so we spent most of our time inside playing. Kyla thinks that Mason is the funniest person ever. She has been laughing a lot, and when Mason is around she laughs at everything he does or says. Mason thought this was great so he was trying his hardest to make her laugh.

We had a very relaxing vacation, every night we would have a fire and sit in my parents beautiful living room near the fire playing with the kids. Mason learned how to ride a snowmachine and would ride all around the yard on the kitty cat snowmachine. He loved being out in the snow and cold weather, the rest of preffered to be inside in the warm house.
Kyla and I visited with my best friend from highschool Jessica. She recently got engaged and is going to get married in July. While I was up there she bought her wedding dress so Kyla and I went to her house to see her try it on, she is going to be a beautiful bride. She has also asked me to be one of her bridesmaids, it should be a great time and we can't wait for the wedding and to have another excuse to go to Alaska this year.

This month Kyla has decided that she really likes to eat. Before she would take a couple of bites or rice cereal or fruit or veggies and then decide that was enough. Now, she will happily eat a full bowl and thinks that it is so yummy. She lets you know she likes it by saying "MMMMM" in between bites. Kyla is now all over the place scooting around. She is also pulling herself up to standing on everything. She would be happy just standing all day long. She is also walking holding onto her toys and furniture. We think that she is going to be an early walker, she just needs to improve on her balance and she'll be on the go. Kyla also loves our cat BamBam, and now that she is moving around she loves to try to chase after him and pet him. He is suprisingly good with her which is very suprising because he has never been a very friendly cat.

Kyla is now saying mama and dada, it is the cutest thing ever. This month Kyla has finally started sleeping through the night, and I am so thankful! We are so happy to have such a beautiful and happy little girl, I am constantly amazed and entertained by everything she does.

Big girl

This month Kyla has some new little friends in Day Care. Until now she has been the only baby there, but is now joined by Bailey, Gretchen, Teagan and Claire. All Girls!!! We have a great teacher for the babies now, Moe who worked at Deer Valley years ago has moved back to Utah and we are so happy to have her take care of the babies. Kyla is the oldest of the babies in her room, but loves all of the little girls.

Kyla is a very vocal little girl, she rarely cries but loves to scream when she is having a good time. She is now scooting everywhere, she has a cute little army crawl. She has also started taking baths in the real bathtub this month. She absolutely loves the water, she can kick and splash for so long. We are starting to think we have a little swimmer on our hands and our looking forward to getting her to the pool this summer.

This is the first month that we have not gone on vacation or had family come to visit us. It is nice to have time to just the three of us, but we also miss our families.

Kyla had her 6 month wellness visit this month. She now weighs 14.13 pounds which is 25%, 26 3/4 inches tall which is 80% and her head circumference is 40%.

Kyla in a winter wonderland!

We went for Kyla's first snowshoe! We had a great time, Jon had Kyla in the baby bjorn and we went for a great walk up the mountain. When we got to the top we let Kyla get out and play in the snow. She had a great time trying to crawl in the snow and eat it too. Kyla is now a little snow bunny and Jon is so proud. He is already talking about getting her on skis next spring when she is 1-1/2 years old.

My mom came down the week before Christmas to visit us. We had a great time with her in town. We went down to Provo to visit my cousin and Aunt, went shopping for Chrsitmas presents and spent a lot of time at home enjoying time with family.

Jon's parents came down the day after Christmas and we celebrated Christmas with them. Kyla had a ton of presents to open and had a great time doing it. She would tear the wrapping paper off of the presents and stuff it in her mouth. Kyla recieved a lot of very fun toys and cute outfits. We were very greatful for all of the gifts that are family gave her. Her favorite toy was a little stage that she recieved from her Uncle David and Aunt Lisa, they said it was also Taylor's favorite. Kyla likes to listen to the music and scream into the microphone. We had a great time this month and were so happy to have our parents come to town. It has been nice spending so much time with our family since having Kyla.

This month Kyla finally got her nursery. We had sent all of the baby furniture to Alaska, thinking that we would be moving soon but then the condo never sold. So, we finally bought new furniture for her room and she now has a cute little nursery. Until now Kyla has been sleeping in our room in the pack'n'play so it is nice to have her in her own room.

Kyla & Bam Bam

Kyla is very active now. She loves to squirm around, roll around and try to reach for everything. She loves toys that make a lot of noise. Kyla is now sitting on her own. She is also starting to eating solid foods. We have started giving her rice cereal, she likes it but lets you know when she is done. She will shut her mouth so tight and turn her head away. Kyla celebrated her first Thanksgiving at our friends Saphu and Chris' house. It was very nice of them to invite us over with our little one.

Kyla had her 4 month wellness visit this month. She is now 12.1 pounds which is 20%, 25 inches tall which is 75% and her head circumference was 25%. It is amazing to see Kyla grow so fast.
